Showcase - Vocabulary Word List 2 - Nithin

A story using 5 vocabulary words:
veritable, hypocrite, cello, connoisseur, sceptical

“A school orchestra,” Evan said skeptically. He was a connoisseur of the cello but doubted that amateurs such as a school orchestra would please him. “Saturday night, 8:10 P.M at the Hudson Lakeside School. Whatever, I’ll go. Besides I don’t have anything else to do.”
On the night of the performance, he wore his favorite suit and striped tie.  As he walked into the auditorium, he still had doubts about the performance. “Humph ...... I wish I had something else to do,” he thought. The auditorium had red walls and the stage was made of wood. All the performers were nicely seated holding their instruments. Among them was a shy boy with orange hair and freckles carrying a cello. Evan thought that this was a good sign as he absolutely loved the cello.
The vice principal gave a long boring speech to begin the performance. When the orchestra began, Evan immediately felt a burst of joy within him. He loved the performance, and especially the cellists. The audience’s excitement was palpable. As they finished, he shouted, “Bravo, it was wonderful.”
While walking out, he met a reporter. “That performance was terrible. What do you think?” the reporter said. “It was not quite up to the standards I expected,” Evans said, not wanting to ruin his reputation as a critic. Now he was a veritable hypocrite.
