Showcase: Vocabulary word list 1 - Aadya

A story out of 5 vocabulary words:
mussels, hippopotamus, perplexed, sauna, separate

The hippopotamus was sitting under the blazing hot sun in Africa. It was so hot he thought he was in a sauna. He was very bored. So he decided to swim in the lake beside him. As the hippopotamus entered the cool lake, he felt something under his feet. When he looked down he saw a bed of mussels.

They all looked so scrumptious that hippopotamus simply had to eat them. Though before he could grab a few, the biggest mussel asked hippopotamus a question. “Have you seen Inception? It’s a great film, but if you’ve not seen it yet then I’ll not ruin the story for you”. Hippopotamus was just about to answer when another mussel said, “Here’s a totally unrelated paradox. Imagine a man goes back in time to meet his grandfather before the grandfather can meet the grandmother. This means that one of the man’s parents will not have been born which in turn means that he himself will not have been born. If he will not have been born then he can’t travel back in time to meet his grandfather. What do you think?”

Hippopotamus was so perplexed by this question that he didn’t know what to say. Just then another mussel started talking. “If you were to separate …” However, before the mussel could finish, Hippopotamus said, “Nice meeting you all. Now I’ll leave.”

So hippopotamus went to sleep on an empty stomach.
